Dillian Whyte is getting ready to take on Oscar Rivas in a crucial clash for his career this Saturday night at the O2 Arena in London.
As the main event fighter on a Sky pay-per-view show, the ‘Body Snatcher’ also has a vested interest in his undercard, and has worked with promoter Eddie Hearn on putting it together.
Therefore, we asked him to give us a full rundown and make a prediction on each bout; you can read what he said below.
🥊 Derek Chisora vs Artur Szpilka
📋 30-9 (21 KOs) vs 22-3 (15 KOs)
🗣️ Dillian’s preview: “They’re both quite experienced men and they’re both famous for exciting fights. You know Szpilka and Chisora is a shootout. Neither of them are gonna be boxing and moving. Szpilka is a warhorse, Chisora is a warhorse. It’s such a great fight actually when you think about it. If you look at both men’s careers, both men’s mentality.”
🔮 Dillian’s prediction: “I’m gonna back Chisora, man. I’ve got a lot of time and respect for Chisora, me and Chisora have been through a lot. We’ve got mutual respect for each other. Someone’s gonna get knocked out in that fight. I’m backing Chisora by knockout.”
🥊 Dave Allen vs David Price
📋 17-4-2 (14 KOs) vs 24-6 (19 KOs)
🗣️ Dillian’s preview: “Great crossroads fight for both men. If Price loses by knockout, he’s done, I don’t think he should ever fight again. If he knocks Dave Allen out he’s gone clear into big fights again. Allen probably is in a better place mentally than what Price is at the minute because Allen is coming off a few good wins now. Pricey, he looked good in spurts against Kash Ali and he looked terrible in spurts as well. I don’t understand what kind of mental block Price is going through at the minute, but he went from being such a good fighter to just being someone who we don’t know if he’s gonna blow up or not. So it’s a very interesting fight.”
🔮 Dillian’s prediction: “I don’t know man, I would say if it’s gonna be a knockout, Price in the first one to three rounds. After that, Dave Allen all day long. Allen is quite tough, he will take his licks, but if it’s an early knockout it’s gonna be Price.”
🥊 Richard Riakporhe vs Chris Billam-Smith
📋 9-0 (8 KOs) vs 9-0 (8 KOs)
🗣️ Dillian’s preview: “Richard’s one of my fighters and I think he’s a very, very top prospect. He trains with me in the gym, he’s in great shape. He looks good, he’s strong, he’s a big guy, big shoulders, he can punch. He’s a bit like a Deontay Wilder, when he lets his punches go he’ll catch you with the power.”
🔮 Dillian’s prediction: “I think he’ll be too strong for Billam-Smith. Richard’s looking to knock these guys out, man.”
🥊 Charlie Duffield vs Dan Azeez
📋 7-1 (6 KOs) vs 8-0 (5 KOs)
🗣️ Dillian’s preview: “Dan’s a friend, I know Dan. I like Dan, I think he’s a great fighter, tough guy, come-forward, fit, a very good athlete. But Duffield’s my man. Duffield’s my team-mate. Duffield’s been training with me, I’ve got a lot of time and love for Duffield. I think he’s spent this camp with me and trained with me and I’ve never seen him looks this good before. Mentally and physically, and from an aesthetic point of view he looked better three or four weeks out than he did on the day of the weigh-in for his last fight.”
🔮 Dillian’s prediction: “It’s a good fight, but I think Duffield will get the victory. I think if Duffield’s gonna win, it’s by stoppage. I spar him as well, he’s very heavy-handed. Nice guy, but he can have it.”
🥊 Fabio Wardley vs Mariano Ruben Diaz Strunz
📋 7-0 (6 KOs)
🗣️ Dillian’s preview: “Fabio is young, he’s 24. We need to progress him, but it’s heavyweight boxing and you’ve gotta be careful at the same time. He didn’t have a great deal of amateur experience and he still drops his hands which I don’t like – I tell him time and time again. But it works for him, so we need to test him and build him up slowly.”
🔮 Dillian’s prediction: The opponent for this fight was only announced after we spoke to Dillian, and so we were unable to get a prediction from him.
🥊 Lawrence Okolie vs Mariano Angel Gudino
📋 12-0 (9 KOs)
Lawrence Okolie was added to this bill after we had our conversation with Dillian and so we couldn’t get his take on the man he exchanged words with earlier in the year. The British and Commonwealth cruiserweight champion was originally meant to box on July 6, but that show was cancelled and he was moved to July 20.
You can catch WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder in the flesh at the famous ICC Arena in Birmingham on July 27 at the marquee event of his UK tour with Showfighter and Gold Star. talkSPORT will be in attendance so click HERE or more information on the event and get your tickets HERE.
