The Anthony Joshua vs Andy Ruiz Jr rematch will be forced to take place in America, rival promoter Frank Warren has told talkSPORT.
Tyson Fury’s representative believes AJ’s shot at revenge will ultimately have to happen back at the site of his initial upset defeat, as US broadcaster DAZN will put their foot down on the matter.
Speaking from Las Vegas, Warren said on the Sports Bar: “There’s all talk about this rematch being in the UK, which I don’t think will be in the UK.
“If they do get this rematch on, it’ll have to be in the States because the TV company out here, DAZN, will want it out here.
“They’ll want it at prime time. They put the money up for the last fight, so they’ll want it prime time in my opinion, and he’s gotta win it.”
While Warren admits he never imagined Ruiz Jr would be the man to cause Joshua’s downfall, he has always expressed doubts over flaws he’s spotted in the heavyweight’s make-up.
The promoter previewed the rematch by adding: “The problem I think for AJ is that Ruiz Jr only had five weeks to train for the fight.
“He always looks out of shape and looks roly-poly fat guy, but that’s the shape of his body.
“He only had that amount of time to train for the fight, so he’s gonna go into a camp and probably have at least 10/12 weeks.
“I’m not saying it’s gonna change the shape of him, but he’s got fast hands and he will feel himself that he’s got AJ’s number.
“He will feel now that he’s got what it takes… Well, he has got what it takes because he’s done it – he put him on the floor four times.
“He will have no fear.”
