There’s been a lot of negativity surrounding Arsenal this summer as fans’ frustration towards the club’s hierarchy threatens to reach boiling point.
Failure to qualify for the Champions League and Unai Emery being given a budget of just £40million in the transfer window has led to Arsenal fans launching a ‘#WeCareDoYou’ campaign aimed at unpopular owner Stan Kroenke.
However, there was some good news for everyone connected with the club on Thursday after Arsenal managed to beat Bayern Munich in California.
An own goal from Louis Poznanski and Eddie Nketiah’s late winner were enough to secure the 2-1 victory.
A number of Arsenal’s young players including Tyreece John-Jules, Robbie Burton and Nketiah were given a run out but it was another academy player who caught the eye of the watching Gooners.
Midfielder Joe Willock played 64 minutes of the match where he locked horns against the likes of Thiago Alcantara and Corentin Tolisso and the 19-year-old gave a good account of himself in the International Champions Cup match.
And some Arsenal fans took to Twitter to show their appreciation for Willock, with some suggesting he has the potential to replace Aaron Ramsey, who left north London for Juventus earlier this summer.
One Gooner even likened the Arsenal player to Barcelona great Andres Iniesta and below you can see more tweets praising Willock’s performance.
