The Reds boss will be without several key players until August
After an impressive 6-0 demolition of Tranmere in their opening pre-season friendly, the academy graduates of Liverpool will once again be on display and heavily involved as the Reds travel to Bradford for their next fixture this Sunday.
During their opening win, Klopp fielded five youngsters in the first-half, including Rhian Brewster who helped himself to two goals and a further assist, as well as Bobby Duncan who scored his first goal for the senior team.
Jurgen Klopp is still missing all of his first choice front three, with Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane away at AFCON with Egypt and Senegal respectively, while Roberto Firmino featured for Brazil at the Copa America.
On top of this, Premier League Player of the Year winner Virgil Van Dijk and Gini Wijnaldum aren’t due to join up with their team-mates until the end of July after their involvement in the Nations League final.
After successful loan periods for Harry Wilson (Derby) and Ryan Kent (Rangers) last season, the attacking pair were also involved at Tranmere and will likely be involved at some point this Sunday.
Kent had been subject to a potential return to Ibrox on loan this season, with Rangers manager Steven Gerrard wanting to prize the 22-year old away for another season – a move that Jurgen Klopp has blocked as he wants Kent to stay with the senior side this season.
We expect to see England midfield pairing Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Adam Lallana involved, with both in need of game time after lengthy periods sidelined through injury last season – they played 45 minutes at Tranmere as Klopp made 11 changes at half time.
Other senior players such as Fabinho – who was left out of Brazil’s Copa America squad, Simon Mignolet and Nathaniel Clyne are all potential starters, along with veteran James Milner.
In terms of strikers, it will be between Brewster and Divock Origi – Champions League final goalscorer Origi, signed a new five-year deal with Liverpool earlier this week, while academy striker Paul Glatzel came off injured against Tranmere so may not feature.
Here’s how Liverpool could potentially line-up:
