A team of talkSPORT experts have offered insight, numbers have been crunched and one player will be revealed every working day – with the winner of talkSPORT’s Premier League Power Rankings announced on Friday, August 9, before Liverpool kick-off the new season against Norwich City.

17. TRENT ALEXANDER-ARNOLD – LIVERPOOL

Last season was a breakthrough campaign for Alexander-Arnold, where he went from top talent at the start of the season, to be recognised as one of the best full backs in the world.

His 12 assists in the Premier League was the highest amount ever recorded by a defender in the top flight, and summed up the immense impact he had.

Alexander-Arnold has everything required in a modern full-back and is taking on more responsibility all the time and clearly thriving with it, being Liverpool’s set piece man and playing well in all the big games.

Top scoring Liverpool duo Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah benefited from Alexander-Arnold’s creativity last season where he recorded 12 Premier League assists, while his cheeky corner in the Champions League semi-final helped dump Barcelona out

All young players usually have a dip in form at some point, but talkSPORT expects next season he’ll push his standards even higher, cementing his place as the best right back in the world.

He still has a bit of work to do on his defending, but at just 20, the sky is the limit.
